5th Grade News

Happy 3rd Trimester!  Can you believe we are in the home stretch?  Report cards for the 2nd trimester will be posted on Sycamore this Friday, February 21.  Please review and sign by next Friday, February 28.

The new trimester brings new classes as well.  Taking the place of German is Art and STEM is now Current Science.  I talked with all the students about having their art box well supplied for art.  The items they will need the most is glue, colored pencils, and scissors.  You might want to ask their child if they need any replacements to finish out the school year.

Another shout-out to the 5th grade – they earned chocolate cake for their History test!  Awesome job!  A great way to end the 2nd trimester!  Keep up the great work!

Student Council is sponsoring the February chapel mission – Project Feed 500.  Millions of children and families are starving in countries around the world.  In order to help meet the need for food, Orphan Grain Train has initiated a program called Project Feed 500.  For a cost of about 3 pennies, Orphan Grain Train can ship a fortified rice meal to a child in a foreign country.  $15 will feed 500, while $150 will feed 5000!  The 5th grade chose $60 as their goal, which would feed approximately 2000 people!  We hope to reach & maybe even exceed our goal, since the winning class will receive a donut party!  You are more than welcome to send in money on non-chapel days as well.  Just make sure to designate it for the “Project Feed 500” and your child’s class.

We have had a lot of sickness sweeping through the school recently – including teachers!  Just a reminder that if your child has a fever, please keep them at home.  Also remind your child of the importance of washing hands & not touching their eyes, nose, & mouth during cold & flu season.  They hear it from me!

Memory is located below on the school website or under “Homeroom-5th Grade” on Sycamore under the “Documents” tab.

Blessings on your week!
